Who this is for

See if any of these sound familiar.

Over the course of recording the Polyamory 201 live podcast in August, people kept bringing us the situations they were actually living through — the complicated ones, where they already knew the language of polyamory, had read the books, understood the theory, and still didn't know what to do.

Not everyone gets coached directly in the time we have together — but everyone leaves with something. See if any of this sounds familiar.

New relationships are changing the landscape
  • Your partner is deep in NRE and, although you know you aren't being replaced, some part of you is frightened that you might be.
  • You're the one experiencing NRE, trying to enjoy something wonderful without neglecting the relationships you already have.
  • A new relationship has changed the time, attention, or affection available in an established one, and you can't tell what's reasonable adjustment and what's genuine neglect.
  • You're the hinge — everybody has understandable feelings and needs, and somehow you're supposed to make the whole thing work.
Agreements, boundaries and autonomy have gotten less clear in real life
  • You don't know when or how to start talking about agreements with somebody newer to polyamory.
  • You agreed to something and later realized you were people-pleasing, or trying to be "good at polyamory" rather than genuinely wanting it.
  • You keep getting stuck on the difference between a boundary, a request, an agreement, and an attempt to control somebody else.
  • You're trying to work out whether accommodating somebody's feelings is loving compromise, or slowly abandoning yourself.
Jealousy makes sense intellectually, but your nervous system has other ideas
  • You understand that jealousy doesn't make you bad at polyamory — understanding that hasn't made it disappear.
  • One of you is getting dates and new connections while the other isn't, and the imbalance is becoming painful.
  • You can't tell whether your jealousy is alerting you to something genuinely wrong right now, or activating something older in you.
  • Your head says one thing, your feelings say another, and your body seems to have an opinion of its own.
There's been conflict, and you don't know how to get properly beyond it
  • You keep arguing about the same visible issue, but suspect the real conflict is about something deeper — Do I matter to you? Can I trust your word?
  • An agreement was broken, and apologizing for it hasn't quite repaired what it meant.
  • You have lingering resentment and can't tell whether you need to let something go, or whether something important was never actually repaired.
  • You're the hinge between two people who want different things, and keep feeling stuck in the middle.
Metamours and polycule dynamics are getting complicated
  • You feel pressure to meet or befriend your metamours even though you don't particularly want another relationship in your life.
  • You feel like you need to be the "poster adult for polyamory" — endlessly relaxed, welcoming, and delighted to spend time with everybody.
  • Your polycule doesn't look like the happy chosen-family version of kitchen-table polyamory you see celebrated online, and you wonder if you're doing something wrong.
  • One relationship in the polycule is in conflict, and the tension is spreading into relationships that weren't originally involved.
Trust has already been damaged, and now another relationship is beginning
  • There's unresolved polyamory-related hurt in your relationship, and your partner has begun seeing somebody new.
  • One of you wants to pause and repair before anything else develops, while the other believes trust can only be rebuilt by doing polyamory differently this time.
  • You genuinely can't tell whether "slow down until we feel safe" is a reasonable request, or an established couple using their relationship to control a newer one.
  • You want to rebuild trust without making another person or relationship disposable in the process.
You're trying to be out without making polyamory your full-time PR project
  • People you love misunderstand polyamory, and you're exhausted from explaining yourself.
  • You can't decide when educating somebody is worth the effort, and when you're allowed to say "I don't want to have this conversation."
  • You value visibility, but you also value privacy, and don't believe being maximally out is necessarily the most liberated choice.
  • One of your relationships gets effortless social recognition while another has to disappear into the category of "friend."
Your relationship is changing or ending, and there's no obvious script
  • You can't tell whether you actually want to break up, or whether the relationship needs to change shape.
  • "De-escalation" sounds gentler than a breakup, but you're wondering if it's creating clarity or just postponing grief.
  • You want to remain friends with an ex but don't know whether staying close is healing, or keeping the attachment alive.
  • You're grieving a relationship other people never regarded as significant, because it was non-primary, casual, or relatively brief.
And sometimes... monogamy suddenly looks reassuring again
  • You know polyamory fits you, but when things get painful you find yourself thinking, wouldn't everything just be easier if I chose one person?
  • Dating feels frightening or exhausting, and you want to retreat into the one relationship where you already know you're safe.
  • You're trying to tell the difference between genuinely wanting monogamy and wanting relief from uncertainty, stigma, or grief.
  • You know what you believe intellectually, but old relationship rules return with surprising force when you're vulnerable.

You don't need to arrive with the answer. That's rather the point.

These are exactly the kinds of knots that are hard to untangle through another book, podcast episode, or Instagram post — because the answer usually depends on the actual human beings involved: your agreements, your history, your values, the power dynamics, what's happened before, and what each of you is actually trying to protect.

That's why we built this workshop.

Bring us the situation you keep going in circles about — we'll ask the questions we rarely have time for in a podcast Q&A, stay with the complexity longer, and help you look at what might actually be happening underneath it.

And if you don't want to be coached directly, you're still very welcome — one of the strange, wonderful things about group coaching is how often somebody else brings your question before you've found the words for it yourself.

What it's like to work with us

People keep telling us this changed how they show up in their relationships.

"My partner and I were stuck in some ongoing conversations, and working with Elizabeth and Ro finally helped us talk through those difficulties and find a much better way to consider each other in our day-to-day life. It was insightful and so much fun — I felt seen with every question I sent in, and so much more equipped for hard conversations with anyone in my life."

— Anonymous Participant

"I tend to clam up and cry in emotional situations and end up scattered. Working with Elizabeth and Ro left me feeling so much more prepared to have conversations that are meaningful and safe, without needing multiple unsuccessful attempts before something actually gets resolved."

— Laurianna, Solo Poly, 52

"I feel confident that I have tools and techniques to have conversations I might have avoided in the past. I loved the way the container was held — you're welcomed and appreciated exactly where you're at. I always loved hearing at the start of the call, 'we are so glad that you are here!'"

— Fletcher W.

"I had just been through a difficult breakup and knew I wasn't communicating well. Elizabeth and Ro have both said they want to help people and make a difference in the world — well, they did. I'm a different person than when I started, in ways my partners have all noticed and are equally impressed by."

— Say the Hard Thing student

What's unique about it

We built this workshop to go deeper than our live podcast could.

Dive deeper into the topics

Actually apply what we've talked about all month to your own life and relationships, not just listen to it.

Ask your specific questions

Bring your real circumstances into the room — this is built around what's actually happening for you.

Learn from others too

Hear what other people are working through and the coaching they get — you'll pick up just as much from that.

The chance to get coached live

By Elizabeth & Ro, in real time. We won't get to everyone individually, but every question raised teaches the whole room.

Not a 101

Built for people who already have the language and don't need the basics covered.

Real world tools for real world polyamory

Practical, not theoretical — things you can use in your relationships the same week.

More room to actually dig in

Nothing like the size of a public recording of 98 people — there's more space here to go deep.

Introvert or wallflower? You're still welcome

You don't have to share a word — just being in the room, listening to the coaching happening around you, is its own kind of learning.

One live session, no prerequisites

Ready to bring your own situation into the room?

Polyamory 201: Beyond the Basics takes everything from the Polyamory 201 live podcast series and applies it directly to your own life — your questions, your relationships, your specific situation. You don't need to have caught the live episodes to belong here.
